History and Evolution
Prime Trust was born from a simple belief: that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and care. What began as a small effort to support education and women\'s development has grown into a comprehensive movement for social change across Puducherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu.

Foundation
Prime Social and Educational Trust was founded by S. M. Arasu with a vision to uplift marginalized communities in Puducherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu.
Janani Home Established
Opened Janani Home to provide shelter, care, and education for abandoned and orphaned girls, in full compliance with CWC guidelines.
Women Empowerment Programmes
Launched Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to empower women through microcredit, savings, and vocational training across rural Puducherry and neighbouring regions of Tamil Nadu.
Educational Expansion
Extended after-school programmes to twelve schools, reaching hundreds of children with academic support and digital learning.
Health Initiatives
Started rural health camps and cancer screening programmes in surrounding villages with little to no healthcare access.
Digital Learning Push
Introduced digital and online learning initiatives to ensure continuous education for children during unprecedented challenges.
700+ Volunteers Strong
Grew our volunteer community to over seven hundred dedicated individuals from India and around the world.

When I came to Janani Home as a child, I had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Prime Trust gave me more than shelter — they gave me a family, an education, and the belief that I could build a future. Today, with their continued support, I am pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher so I can give back to children who face the same struggles I once did.
Before joining the self-help group, I had no income of my own and felt powerless to change my family's situation. The training and microcredit support from Prime Trust changed everything. I learned to save, started a small tailoring business from home, and today I earn enough to support my children's education and even help other women in my village get started.
Growing up in a rural village, I struggled with school because there was no one at home to help with homework, and our school had limited resources. The after-school programme run by Prime Trust became my second classroom. The volunteers and tutors patiently guided me, and for the first time, I began to excel in mathematics and science. I am now preparing for college — something my family never thought possible.
Our village had never seen a health camp before Prime Trust arrived. Many women, including myself, had never had a proper health screening. When they organized a cancer screening camp in our community, I was diagnosed early and received timely treatment that saved my life. Prime Trust does not just run programmes — they save lives.
I volunteered with Prime Trust for six months, teaching English and mathematics at their after-school centre. What struck me most was not just the children's eagerness to learn, but the organization's deep respect for the communities they serve. Every programme is designed with the community, not imposed upon them. It was the most meaningful experience of my life.
After my husband passed away, I was left alone with three children and no source of income. I felt hopeless. Then I heard about Prime Trust's vocational training programme. I learned tailoring and soon after, received a small microcredit loan to buy a sewing machine. Today, I run a successful tailoring business from my home, employ two other women from my neighbourhood, and all three of my children are in school. Prime Trust restored my dignity and gave my family a second chance.
