Why We Exist
Many women, children, and vulnerable families in Puducherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu continue to face challenges such as poverty, limited access to education, inadequate healthcare, and lack of livelihood opportunities. These barriers often prevent individuals and communities from reaching their full potential. Prime Trust exists to address these challenges by empowering women, protecting children, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for sustainable development.
Vulnerable Children Without Shelter
Many abandoned and orphaned girls in Puducherry and surrounding areas lacked safe homes, proper nutrition, and access to education, leaving them exposed to exploitation and poverty.
Women Trapped in Poverty
Women in rural communities had limited access to financial resources, vocational training, or decision-making power, perpetuating cycles of dependency and poverty across generations.
Gaps in Education
Children from marginalized families struggled with inadequate academic support, lack of access to quality education, and high dropout rates due to economic pressures at home.
Healthcare Inaccessibility
Rural villages around Puducherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu faced critical gaps in preventive healthcare, with little to no access to regular health camps, screenings, or health awareness programmes.

Prime Social and Educational Trust is a non-profit organization based in Puducherry, working for the welfare of children, women, and marginalized communities. Since 2000, we have been creating opportunities through education, child protection, healthcare, livelihood support, and community development programmes across Puducherry and neighbouring regions of Tamil Nadu.
Through our programmes — including Janani Home, Child Sponsorship Programme, Remedial Education Centres, Women Self-Help Groups, Vocational Training, Entrepreneurship Development, and Community Development Initiatives — we work across rural communities to build safer, healthier, and more self-reliant communities.

S. M. Arasu
Founder & Director
Founded Prime Trust in 2000 with a vision to transform the lives of marginalized women and children. Inspired by the challenges in his native village and supported by his sister, a Catholic nun, he started community support activities that grew into a registered organization in 2002. With over two decades of hands-on social work experience, he continues to lead the organization with passion and dedication.
Mrs. A. Lakshmi
Program Director
Oversees all programme operations, ensuring that every initiative meets the highest standards of impact and accountability. She has been instrumental in expanding the organization's reach across rural communities.
Dr. P. Meena
Trustee - Health Initiatives
A medical professional who guides the organization's health and wellness programmes. She has been pivotal in establishing health camps and screening programmes in rural areas around Pondicherry.
Mrs. K. Priya
Trustee - Women Empowerment
Brings extensive experience in women's rights and empowerment. She leads the Self-Help Group initiatives and vocational training programmes, helping hundreds of women achieve financial independence.
